Tight Security in Coimbatore, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Vellore and Hosur etc.,

Tight vigil is being maintained in Tamil Nadu and extra forces have been deployed in sensitive cities like Coimbatore and Tirunelveli ahead of the verdict on the Ayodhya title suit tomorrow, a top police official said.

"The entire state police of about one lakh has been mobilised and we are deploying additional forces at hyper- sensitive places such as Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Vellore and Hosur among others," ADGP (Law and Order) K Radhakrishnan told PTI here today.

As we have lesser force of policemen, compared to the people - I am guessing this is necessary. But with another perspective, is Government doing too much for if nothing wrong will happen?

At any case - precautionary measures are absolutely, needed.

Coimbatore Impression has to change for good gradually

Given the situation that IT parks to be ready by September and by the year end companies who would be interested would take over their offices in the IT park - I am guessing impression of Coimbatore would change gradually.

Though it is just 114 cents (just more than one acre land in each location - Vadapalanji and Ilandaikulam), it is a great step from the government for the development.

As we have seen growth of Chennai IT highways and Coimbatore's significant growth - it is expected that Coimbatore would change its impression for fellow Indians.

Given the road infrastructure these days as bypass, Coimbatore is set grow to heights!

Invest in Coimbatore!!!

Taking AUTO in Chennai

Sponsored by OruAcre.com

Whenever taking an auto in chennai always follow the following rule for the fare to be given to the auto.

Whatever the amount the driver is mentioning, ask him 3/4th of the amount.
i.e., (asked_Amount*3)/4

For ex. if the drive asks Rs.100, then you can bargain for <=Rs.75.

You can also ask even lesser than that. Then it is well and good.

Going for more than this amount is a loss for us.

This rule can be applied in Coimbatore also.

Beating the Heat in Coimbatore

ssssssssss abbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaa! Ippavey kanna kattudhey!!!!!!!

Yes the heat is breaking the heads of the people in Coimbatore. Not only in coimbatore, but many places around the world. As the climate is changing drastically due to global warming, summers are still heated up.

OK, lets come to our Coimbatore.

Lets discuss how to tackle this years heat in Coimbatore during this summer season.
Here are some ways:
1. Drink plenty of water / citrus juice. You can opt for Lemon/Watermelon as they are cheaper than other fruits and high in water content.
2. Avoid going in the sun and if needed, plan with an umbrella or a cap. Use helmet if you are taking your bike. Car driving will be a pleasure, but not for small distances.
3. Avoid non-veg foods like, Chicken, Eggs, crab, etc. Eat vegetables that are high in fibrous and water content.
4. Always wear light cotton wear preferebly in light colors that doesn't absorb heat.
5. Use boiled/purified water for drinking to avoid water borne diseases.
6. Carry a water bottle in your travel.
7. Avoid sitting in a same place for a longer time, escpecially in cusion chairs/sofa/bed.

Hope the above points can help you in beating the heat in coimbatore and prevent the diseases that may affect us in this summer is we follow them.

Mandaiya polakkudhu veyil!.
Yaruppa anga, thanni kondanga.

Price rise in Coimbatore

When you see the price rise in Coimbatore, it is comparatively lower than in other metro cities which I have been. Recently my brother who had come from US was shocked to see the price rise in Coimbatore. Truly he hadn't expected the amount of this much price rise over there. It is not a shocking thing but this is the case throughout India. People have got accustomed to it.

My personal advice would be to do a little bit of research on what we are going to do and then act accordingly. For example if you want to buy anything in Coimbatore, just ask people in Coimbatore about where can we buy the thing, how much it would cost, and questions like that. This would give us the person the idea about the item. Then the person can proceed.

Or else we have to learn by ourselves and then understand. By this approach we would have wasted some amount of money and with that losing some peace of mind.

Be aware.

Coimbatore Improvement Thoughts:

Theme of problems:
For detailed problems in Coimbatore, see Problems list 1 and Problems list 2. Read further here...

What is Coimbatore today? Coimbatore is still a historic place, like india it is a developing city - but never developed. Coimbatore is filled with gangsters and survival of the fittest proves physically only. Coimbatore's talents are moving out of Coimbatore for employment and career improvement to other cities, due to under-industrialization and under-IT ecosystem.

Coimbatore's potential relies on Tourism for ages together - but not tapped to the full extent - at least not to my satisfaction. Coimbatore is great for IT and ITeS operations, but not completely used. Coimbatore is great for an export oriented facilities. Coimbatore is under-infrastructured in terms of air and road.

There is a great talent pool which is still connected to Coimbatore, but lives outside Coimbatore. Whoever is living in Coimbatore are speechless and helpless under the clutches of the political and physical powers.

Solution snapshot:

If there is a strong force of NRIs and NRMs coming and settling in Coimbatore, that would change a lot of Coimbatore to Great Coimbatore. Do you understand what I am saying?

If there is a strong self-driven REVERSE-BRAIN-DRAIN happens in Coimbatore, then no one can stop Coimbatore's improvement!

Here is how I am thinking reverse brain drain to Coimbatore will help Coimbatore become GREAT MADURAI.

1) All the NRIs and NRMs(Non-Resident Coimbatoreites - say b'lore/hyd/chennai living) would start businesses.

2) Lot of legal money would pool into Coimbatore.

3) Great Teachers with new(international) perspectives would mould children to a great future.

4) There will be lot of Non-Profit Organizations(Non-Governmental Organizations - NGOs) started, noticing/realizing the unacceptable behaviour of Coimbatore.

5) New employment opportunities would happen, due to new businesses and industries.

6) World class Medical facilities and medical professionals would be available for help in health.

7) There would be a strong need to make Coimbatore like Singapore or any other country.

This would change MADURAI TO GREAT MADURAI AND NEW MADURAI

Would you agree with my thinking? Thank you for listening and visiting Coimbatore Times Blog!!!

Pongal festival: Famous festival in and around Coimbatore

This is Coimbatore Mani. I will be a special reporter for "Coimbatore Times" from now on.
We are aiming to take Coimbatore Times Publication to the next level by end of 2009...

PONGAL FESTIVAL:::

Pongal is one of the major festivals in Tamilnadu, which is popularly called as Sankaranthi in other parts of India. It is also the birth of a new tamil month ('thai'). Now this day has been considered as the Tamil new year day by the government of tamilnadu also.

As this day is nearing by with only hardly a month, let me share some things about this day which I know.On Pongal day, the people used to wear new clothes and this day is mainly for the cattle and machinery used for cultivation. So farmers mainly celebrate this day by presenting the cultivated goods and presenting to the Sun god. The village people normally celebrate this day by decorating their houses, fields and cattle. They would expect this day as auspicious day as they would have harvested their crops and this should continue throughout their life time. The main food items for this day would be Sweet pongal (ingredients may depend on the financial status of the family).

Other things include the Sugarcane which is purple in color and the Lunch made of fully homegrown vegetables. Root vegetables like potato varieties is also included in the menu.On the next day of Pongal, people used to have non-vegetarian and the next day is the day of Mattu Pongal. This day is mainly for the cattle. On this day they will take care of their cattle specially by decorating and giving special food. Moreover on this day cattle will be sent for Jallikattu also - which is a popular brave sport.

I would like to share some of my experiences during pongal day.We used to wait for this day as we can chew sugarcane on this day. Normally I would love to eat sugarcane a lot. Then about the Lunch in our home it will be heavy with full of vegetables. All vegetables will be there in the Sambar and for side dish we would have potatoes, pachcha mochai and beans usili. Dinner will be completed with dosa and the remaining Sambar. This sambar will be in our home for another two days. :-)

Great festival! But now I am away from my home, missing all the above. Though I am with my family here, I am missing a lot without my parents who are there in my home town. I dont know whether I am having any plan to go to my home town on this day, but I am hoping to do so.

Hope your experiences are similar!

A Game that is forgotten as Years goes by - Jallikattu.

I would like to mention about the famous dravidian game - Jallikattu. Alanganallur, a place in Coimbatore district is a specific place where this game is famous for. In an around coimbatore, that too specifically villages also sport such games, but to a small extent. Bulls from all over the tamilnadu will be participating and show their strength. Brave men from the age of 15 to 60 will be participating. Some men end up with serious damages and even lose their lives doing such acts. Also I would like to share one of my breathtaking experience in one such game. Dont think that I had indulged in the act of handling the bulls. But on that day I went just as a spectator. I, my brother who is in CA now and my friend went to witness the game. We had a nice spot to view the game of chasing and as time went on, more and more bulls were going and brave men were chasing them. As it was nearing the end of the game, we three decided to move towards our place and were trying to get way out of the crowd. What happened to our surprise is that, we got strangled in a small gap between two houses when crowd were pushing us and suddenly a bull tried to enter a crowd present over there. There was no other go and we were nearly very near to the bull and it was very fierce. Suddenly i caught hold of one of the low lying roof outside one of the house and my brother and my friend got slipped into a thorny bush. But luckily men from the crowd diverted the bull and it went in the other direction. We had a very narrow escape. phooh.
So always play safe.

Reading habit for kids

Reading habit for kids

I believe - If we implant the reading habit in kids, then their life is set.
As Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam had said sometime back - Good Reading leads to good thoughts; thoughts leads to actions; actions lead to habit and habit leads to character. The whole good character could be built by a reading habit.

My mother always brought books from the local library and had advocated us to read in my school days. I realized the power of reading habit only in my college days, in fact. I want my children to have them incorporated as early as possible, like my mother dreamt about us.

First of all, we need to be a good model character for them. We should not be the person who just watches movies and TV whole time. The children should see us reading magazines and good books. They will automatically follow us, because they don't have anybody to follow in the initial stages. I am sure once they read more books they will form their own characters by following great men.

Take them to the library, when they are just 1 or 1.5 year old itself. Or 2 years is a good enough age, when they understand things better. They will see all the people reading silently and assume that it is a good habit to do and they start liking too.

Do not push the reading and as always let reading be FUN for them!

As my parents invested on education for us, and nothing else, I will take my children's education as a high priority.
If we are keen in just earning and building wealth, it is not good enough. We need to invest time on kids to encourage them and appreciate them, recognize them for their work and their thinking.

Use Recognition...recognition as the Carrots for their improvement and their happiness!

Odd moments in the elevator

Odd moments in the elevator

I am sure everyone of us, who use elevator everyday would have encountered these situations.

You get into your elevator, in your office building. Another man or woman accompanies you in the same elevator.
Elevator closes the door and you go to the desired floor. While the elevator is in flight, you have nothing to talk...

You don't see eye to eye!
You see up and see the display floor number and try to read different things in the elevator to avoid any topic with the other person.
Some people try to talk about weather!#@
Some people try to talk about the latest news or hot topic...
You try to be nice with the conversation...
You say thank you, have a great day, nice talking to you etc.,

Have you seen mirror around you, in many elevators? I don't know why is that.

It is always odd moments, even though it is very quick.

However, if you have the known people on board, these odd moments does not apply.

Difference between satisfied customers and loyal customers: Coimbatore Business Execution Tips

How can you differentiate between your satisfied customers and your loyal customers? Here are eight ways. They are equally relevant to your external customers as they are to your internal employee customers.

1.Pricing. You negotiate prices with satisfied customers. You negotiate costs with loyal customers.

2.Payment. Satisfied customer pay at their discretion. Loyal customers pay on time.

3.Referrals. Satisfied customers become referrals of your competitors. Loyal customers willingly provide referrals to you.

4.Turnover. Generally, you will experience turnover rates of 15% or higher of satisfied customers. The turnover rate of loyal customers will be less than 5% and will be for reasons out of your control.

5.Competitive data. Your satisfied customers are seeking competitive data. Your loyal customers are sharing competitive data.

6.Perception. Satisfied customers perceive you as a commodity provider. Loyal customers perceive you as a partner.

7.Contract. You will need a contract to keep many satisfied customers in place. You have a virtual lifetime contract with your loyal customers.

8.Difficult times. Satisfied customers will leave you. Loyal customers will stay by your side.

Customer Satisfaction in any business: Enterprise Car Company

Enterprise Rental Car Company Customer Treatment

I live in Virginia, United States - and I took a rental car from Enterprise Rental Car company and I was very happy with one of their gesture.

I and my brother-in-law called up this company's customer service and they said they will pick us up from our home and even drop us back to our home from the rental car place. Isn't that a wonderful feature or service they provide to the customers.

In fact, I was very happy about that feature - When someone is taking a rental car - 80% of the reason would be that the customer does not have a car, but he/she is licensed to drive and want to go places. So, considering this it perfectly makes perfect sense to have this service and I am sure many people will like this service.

If any other rental car company does not provide this service, please take this up. It is worth trying. BTW, I will go only to Enteprise, since they have pleased me!!:-)

If you have a company in Coimbatore, please consider Customer Experience and Customer Satisfaction in whatever you do. Your business will do great!!
