Coimbatore Corporation extends 172 Sq.Km till Tirumangalam, Coimbatore High Court etc.,

In 1971, Coimbatore got the approval for Corporation status and till date it is being continued as the great Corporation. At that time, the area of Coimbatore Corporation limit was 22 Sq.Kms.

In 1974, Coimbatore was added with 13 villages in and around and extended to 52 Sq.kms.

In all these years, there was no extension done to Coimbatore Corporation and there has been population increase to the extent of 23,000 people per sq.km.

By 2008, there were discussions kick-started to extend to 725 Sq.kms. There were many oppositions to it and later it was decided that it would be extended to 172 Sq.kms by including various villages around Coimbatore.

The village near Airport called Perungudi and the village near Coimbatore Kamaraj University were not included in this expansion for some reason.

Officers are meeting in chennai for the same and to finalize. However, here are the villages included in this phase of expansion -

Nagaraatchis - Thirumangalam, Thiruparankundram, Avaniyapuram, Aanaiyur;
PaerOoraatchis - Vilangudi, Thirunagar, R.V. Patti;
21 Ooraatchis - Melamadai, Vandiyoor, Uthangudi, Naaganaagulam, Thiruppaalai, Kannanendhal, Vilaacheri, Pudhukkulam bit 1, Pudhukkulam bit 2, yergudi, Achampaththu, Iravadhanalloor, Chinna Anuppaanadi, Thiyagarajar Colony, Sinthaamani, Thoppoor (thoppur), Thanakkangulam, Nilayur bit 1, Nilayoor Bit 2, Naagamalai Pudhukkottai, Kappaloor, Uchchappatti and Coimbatore High court area.

This means that benefits of Corporation and infrastructure funds of Coimbatore Corporation would apply to all these outskirts villages and also various other benefits like Police, Water, Electricity etc., of the Coimbatore Corporation would apply to these extended areas as well.

It is a good news for Real Estate and also it will ease the population, space constraints and various other extension benefits!!!

Coimbatore Health is terrible as of Jan 10th 2010

I hear people are unhealthy in Coimbatore.

A total of 4000 outpatients were treated for "Dengue" fever at the government medical hospital in Coimbatore on Saturday and it was spreading rapidly in the district due to factors like water contamination, uncleared garbage and open drains.

hospital records showed that 30000 people had received treatment for "different types of fever, mainly chikungunya and dengue last year.

Action from Coimbatore Corporation, Coimbatore NGOs and Coimbatore people is needed for improving the health of Coimbatore. Hygienic lifestyle is needed among people of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore Corporation has to improve the quality of resources provided to Coimbatore people.

Followup on a scam in Coimbatore Corporation

Please see the article about Rs.75 lakhs pension scam in Coimbatore Corporation.

This is a news on dec 16th, but how do we track this? Will the news about this later, be published?

How do we track what happenned to the Rs.75 lakhs? Even if the money is caught back, will all of the money go back to the treasury in complete?

I am doubting some of the amount will be divided among some of the corrupt officials and officers! I and many citizens would be definitely happy if the full amount is captured back into the treasury.

Coimbatore Corporation is in debt trouble

It is not only "United States of America" in debt trouble, but also Coimbatore!

The City Corporation, which is one of the six corporations implementing Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission programme in the country, may have problem in implementing projects after April 6, if they did not settle the dues to the Contractors to the tune of Rs.46-Crores.

About 300 contractors are not paid by the corporation and all the work is going to stop due to the lack of funds very soon.

Is it because of corruption or why did this happen? There is no transparency at all.
Also, we are not going to know anytime why this happenned...Probably all the 'incoming funds' crores to be paid to contractors are in different pockets....

Beggars are avoided and respected in Coimbatore

Coimbatore Corporation is calling to arrest beggars in Coimbatore.
There was a recent news (couple of months back) that beggars were arrested and they were released very soon.

My question is - what would police do by arresting these beggars? Most of the beggars are helpless. I am thinking - Beggars are of three categories in Coimbatore. In fact, everywhere...

1) Physically and/or Mentally Handicapped and do not have a way of doing any work or do not have reasoning. Complete helpless.
2) Partially handicapped - like one leg is gone for example.
3) Completely lazy, homeless and ran-away-cases from their hometown.

First category is the one should be helped and placed in homes for homeless.
Other two categories should not be helped at all.

In Coimbatore, all the three categories are available. There are some organizations and individuals who help these beggars and homeless people. All said, If you help the second and third categories, it is not healthy at all for Coimbatore - that guy would become more and more lazy.

I support helping the first category, but not the second and third category.

Instead, work on getting a home and put them in homes for homeless. Give them employment and give them food only when they work! That will give self respect and dignity for them. Even if you don't have a leg or a hand, anyone should learn to live by himself or herself.

We cannot feed them all the time and throughout their life. Neither arresting the beggars would help.

We used donate to Akshaya Trust two years back, but now we could not due to lack of human resources for new coimbatore foundation. On those days, I asked Akshaya Trust Krishnan and I was enquiring about whom does he feed daily. He replied - he feeds only the first category. Good Stuff...I appreciate his efforts, also he said he is aiming towards building a home. I am not sure, what is the status on it currently. If he is still working on his long-term aim, I am sure he is collecting funds for it. Need to contact Akshaya Trust Krishnan and ask about it. If you want to contact Akshaya Krishnan -

Tirunelveli City Municipal Corporation

Tirunelveli the eight year old infant among the Corporation of Tamil Nadu, is a land which has so many laurels to her credit.

This is a land of sages much evident from epics and puranas. Christening of this place itself bears testimony to its antiquity and divinity.

This is the birth land of industrialists like T.V.S. Simpsons, Easun, India Cements and also the origin of great News Papers like Thina Thanthi etc.

This is the land that has pernnial water supply through Tamiraparani the only virgin perennial Indian river supplying water to the undivided Tirunelveli District.

This is the land that is famous all over India for its Halwa production and even known as Halwa City.

Coimbatore Corporation Website Never Revamped and Obsolete!!!

Coimbatore Corporation website http://www.coimbatorecorporation.in or http://www.coimbatorecorporation.com is never revamped and it stays obsolete with lot of old data

So far, years together the website is old and obsolete to a maximum extent. Even when state government changes, there won't be much changes to the coimbatore corporation at all.

Here are some details about the website -

In the website, coimbatore history, coimbatore map, coimbatore population, coimbatore departments, coimbatore top elected and officials name and details, coimbatore corporation details, coimbatore street lights, coimbatore schools, coimbatore tender notices and details, coimbatore corporation budget, Jawarlal Nehru Township details, Online tax payment details etc., are provided. But most of the data is not up to date!

Government is wishing to make all of the governance electronically done - to make it as e-governance. It is wishing even common citizen's complaint can be sent to the government via e-mail or SMS and it seems to be enough. Corporation claims that immediate action will be taken.

All the wishes are like written in the beach sand. There is no action at all, to improve anything. Even the basic coimbatore corporation website is not revamped, how will e-governance be put in place for Coimbatore!?!??!

Pity situation for Coimbatore people - by coimbatore corporation!
