A new outlook of Coimbatore International Airport's utility
Now, what?
How do we have the Airport functioning and useful!? Coimbatore Airport will function as international airport, only when international flights come in and go out of Coimbatore Airport. Why there is no news on that? Here is the reason -
Flight operators were complaining that Customs Checking Operation division has to be opened in Coimbatore Airport, then only International flights can operate. When asked with the Customs operations, they are telling International Flights has to operate then only Customs can be started.
Having this situation, there had been discussions between officers and now conclusions are made lately that in a month's time flights will operate. Basically, in 2 weeks Customs will start it seems (Government's message), and automatically international flights would start working in another 2 weeks (assumption).
In one month - Coimbatore to Colombo will be operated by Srilanka Airlines, Air India Express; Coimbatore To Dubai will be operated by Air Arabia; Coimbatore to Singapore will be operated by Air Asia. Air Lanka will operate from Colombo to Europe and America.
Air Lanka has decided to provide flights from Colombo to all across the world, which means flights are connected from Coimbatore to all around the world!!
There are numerous advantages of Coimbatore International Airport and flights -
Every time, people from Southern districts have to go to Chennai to fly out of the country. Now, it is a great step that people from Southern districts can fly from Coimbatore to anywhere in the world, directly from Coimbatore.
As on date - people travelling from Chennai to all south asian countries are most of them are from southern districts of Tamil Nadu. Almost 70% are from Coimbatore and southern districts. With the Coimbatore international airport, people can directly fly to and fro Coimbatore to anywhere in the world.
Also, all the tourists from Tamil Nadu can go from Coimbatore directly to anywhere in the world - which helps them with lesser travel and also lesser cost for the trip.
Also, the international tourists from Asian countries who visit Kanyakumari, Meenakshi Amman Temple, Coutrallam etc., can come to Coimbatore directly, instead of coming to Chennai and then coming to Coimbatore in different modes of transports!
Great job by the Government!!! We at Coimbatore247.com thank the government for Coimbatore's International Airport!!!! Great step and this is going to change Coimbatore for good! First step haan!

Reached Coimbatore safely...Coimbatore Airport Photos
I wanted to make this article simple and short, but I will try my best.
It was a long flight for me from California to Chennai. I waited for almost a night in Chennai till morning for a morning flight to Coimbatore, from Chennai. I liked the fact that there is a direct flight from Chennai to Coimbatore. So I am connected for an international flight to Coimbatore, indirectly. Isn't that great?!!
As the flight was nearing, I was just watching down to see my lovely Coimbatore. Paramount Airways, as always is great in hospitality. I had great chat with my co-passengers, who where originally from Sivakasi etc.,
Atlast I reached Coimbatore and took photos in Coimbatore Airport.
I saw significant differences in Coimbatore Airport, not in the same terminal. Whatever airport was there, it is all the same. But, there is a nearby building being built for the new terminal. I was glad to see that.
Only the people who travel can take this photo. I don't think anybody outside, who is not travelling can take this photo. Here are some of my captures...

Naming Coimbatore Airport Issue
Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy has threatened to launch an agitation if the Tamil Nadu Government further delayed its consent to name the city airport after freedom fighter Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
Swamy has written letter to the government, but he has not received any response yet.
My question is - the international Coimbatore Airport is not ready yet, but issues of NAMING has raised!
God Bless Coimbatore!

Why should we buy land near Coimbatore Airport?
There is a confusion in all of our minds? Where should we invest our hard earned money?
When a city is developed, automatically things get developed and improved around Airport as well. That is what I am thinking about Coimbatore Airport as well.
Hotels around Coimbatore Airport would be obvious idea by the developers, investors and real estate builders. Rental Car companies, Hotels, Restaurants, Shopping complexes are some of the other building entities that would be planned around Coimbatore Airport.
IT Companies which includes both Software and also BPO companies would like to have the companies started in the Coimbatore IT park area, but there will be companies who might not want to go to IT park area, but stick to just the Airport area. That makes sense in fact.
Considering the government's investment in expanding the coimbatore airport into international airport makes our work easy. It would be a great investment and return of investment if we buy now some of the lands near Coimbatore area.
An area of around 20-25 kilometers in and around Coimbatore Airport would be a great deal for any small time individual investor. If you want to know about the lands around that area, you could contact any broker or agent around that area.

Lands near Coimbatore Airport in high demand
As you know already, lands near Coimbatore IT park were on high demand recently and still it is.
There is always some kind of improvement and advancement news in and around Coimbatore anytime. Previously it was around IT park, then the new medical center proposed in Austinpatti coimbatore and now the new airport terminal in Coimbatore Airport.
Even if anything is not going to be up in few days, all the news proposed are eventually going to happen in Coimbatore, pragmatically. Where would the developments go in Tamil Nadu - it has to come to cities like Coimbatore. What was the situation 10-15 years back for Bangalore and Hyderabad is the situation for Coimbatore today!
It would be a smart move to purchase lands even in small quantities in these areas around the Coimbatore Airport area. Why not give it a shot?

Coimbatore Airport Status - 80 years behind
World's worst Airports
1.Mumbai
2.Delhi
4.Bangalore
I am sure you understand the status of infrastructure, especially AIR infrastructure in India. Too bad to hear...lot of things to do by the government...
Recently I visited San Fransisco International Airport and I saw a photo poster there near the ticket counters. A photo with San Fransisco Airport dating back to 1935, 1955, 1980 etc., were posted. I was able to compare Coimbatore Airport with it dating back to 1935 only.
In terms of Air Infrastructure, we(Coimbatore) are about 75 to 80 years behind...
