Gangaikondan IT Park, Tirunelveli

Following the launch of Coimbatore IT Park on August 2, the Information Technology Special Economic Zone at Gangaikondan near here is all set to take off during November as the project, being promoted by ELCOT, will be completed before October-end, Minister for Information Technology Poongothai Aladi Aruna said.

The Minister, after reviewing the progress of the construction of the three-storey building with a plinth area of 50,000 square feet on the 500-acre SEZ about 15 km from here on the Tirunelveli � Coimbatore National Highway along with Information Technology Secretary P.W.C. Davidar on Thursday told reporters that the SEZ would be ready for inauguration during November as the building as well as incorporation of all infrastructure facilities such as car parking area, centralised air-conditioning, system, sewage treatment plant and food court. in the complex would be completed before Octoberend.

While key players like Syntel (25 acres), Sutherland Global Services (10 acres) and Deccan Services (2 acres) had been allotted land on the sprawling area of 100 acres to be developed in Phase I, small players would be allotted space in the building now under construction at the rate of Rs. 20 per square foot.

�Since we are so keen on encouraging the small players also, we've fixed the lowest rate for Gangaikondan IT SEZ as the next lowest rate is Rs. 23 per square foot for space at the Coimbatore IT SEZ,� said Dr. Poongothai.

Solar power generation company, A & D Solar Systems, which has planned to generate five MW solar energy from this complex had been allotted 25 acres of land. Dr. Poongothai informed that the IT SEZ at Coimbatore, where companies like HCL, Honeywell and Sutherland Global Services would have their facilities, would be ready within next eight weeks while the Tiruchi project would also be ready for launch in November. �Tender has been floated for establishing the Hosur IT Park,� she said.

Coimbatore IT Park to be ready in 8-12 weeks time

The Information Technology (IT) Parks and ELCOT owned 50,000 sq.ft building inside the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli will be ready in the next 8 to 12 weeks time, said P.W.C. Davidar, IT Secretary on Wednesday.

It would take some more months for the Hosur IT Park to get going as the work order was given recently and the work would commence soon. The IT department was racing against time to complete the ELCOT buildings including infrastructure work for entire SEZs at Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli.

Those firms having Rs.1 crore turnover or Rs.50 lakh export turnover can ask for a minimum of one acre of land.

Coimbatore, Trichy(Tiruchirapalli), Tirunelveli, Salem, Hosur IT Park Update

Tamil Nadu IT minister Dr Poongothai said six more IT SEZs would come up in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 675 crore in Hosur, Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore,Tirunelveli and Salem.

Mr. Karunanidhi said the TIDEL Park here would provide employment to 12,000 people. With more such parks, there would be industrial growth in the State and exports would increase. He recalled that Murasoli Maran was instrumental in setting up industrial parks in different parts of the State.

Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who also holds the portfolio of Industries, said the Chief Minister, in 2007, laid the foundation for the TIDEL Park. It had come up [over an extent of 10 acres] at a cost of Rs. 350 crore.

Mr. Karunanidhi established the State's first TIDEL Park in Taramani in 2000 and it had provided employment to thousands of youth. It was decided to open such parks in Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Salem, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli. Special economic zones were also coming up in these places. In 2008-2009, software exports from Coimbatore were about Rs. 220 crore.

The TIDEL Park here is a joint venture of TIDCO, ELCOT, TIDEL and STPI. Software companies in the State achieved Rs. 4,000 crore business in 2009-2010. The State had several advantages such as infrastructure, education, human resource.

Coimbatore IT Park Latest News - by end of 2010

Anticipating a surge in the Information Technology sector next year, the State government is readying five IT parks/ IT Special Economic Zones for launch between April and December.

�The biggest IT park in Tamil Nadu, the Sholinganallur IT park, will be inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in April,� said Information Technology Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna, after an inspection of the park on Tuesday morning. The IT park in Coimbatore would be ready by June and IT parks in Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Tiruchi by the end of the year, she added.

Work starts on Nanguneri SEZ - Tirunelveli Park

Work starts on Nanguneri SEZ

The construction work of the Rs 15,000-crore special economic zone (SEZ) at Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district has commenced with the laying of 4.5 roads, official sources said.

Initially roads, water supply and electricity connection would be provided, the sources said. The Centre had given notification for the SEZ on November 18, after the district administration acquired about 2,500 acres of land for the purpose.
