Employees of temples governed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable endowment Board today observed a "sit-in" strike, demanding implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations and pay parity with Government employees.
As a result, ticket sales at the Meenakshi temple and Sri Murugan temple at Tiruparankunram, Palani, Tiruchendur, Srivilliputhur, Alagarcoil and Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram, Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple, Sri Mariamman temple at Samayapuram and all the other major temples was partially paralysed, officials said.
Though there were some inconveniences, the problem is resolved and the pay commission is accepted!

Secular city - Coimbatore - Hindus, Christians and Muslims in Coimbatore
Secular city - Coimbatore - Hindus, Christians and Muslims in Coimbatore
India is a secular country and of-course every city in India is secular too. Coimbatore demographics include varied set of people with diversified culture, religion, caste, race and creed.
Coimbatore includes Hindus, Christian, Muslims etc., (Don't want to talk about Caste, however) Caste wise - all kinds of castes are there.
One good part is - even though there is a minority of Muslim population, there is considerable amount of muslim population. Even a single point of time, communal riots in Coimbatore has not happen in a major way. That is a great indication that every caste or religion in Coimbatore is cooperative and friendly in Coimbatore.
Even in Coimbatore, there was a riot, but Coimbatore has been a safest place. You cannot imagine any kind of damage in that perspective to the city. This is definitely a clear indication for lot of business initiatives, considering its safety.
By the way - Eid Mubarak - Bakrid Wishes to all Coimbatore Muslims and all. Enjoy the Coimbatore Biriyani!!
