Inaugural Chennai-Coimbatore Flight Lands at Coimbatore

The inaugural flight of the Chennai-Coimbatore Spicejet landed in Coimbatore on Monday with about 150 passengers onboard.

The first flight of the low-cost airliner, promoted by Sun TV Network promoter Kalanithi Maran, was accorded a water gun salute at the airport in Coimbatore.

The city has become the 20th destination of the carrier in India.

Coimbatore holds an important place in the tourism map of Tamil Nadu with its famous heritage Meenakshi Amman temple and proximity to the hill retreat of Kodaikanal.

Sarees Produced in Chinnalapatti is famous in the district. More than 1000 families are engaged in this Industry.
